Roughly every five years, counties across the Atlanta region undergo a planning process to address transportation in their communities. Coweta County last completed its Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) in 2016, and it is time for an update! New this time around: the County is developing its CTP alongside its Comprehensive Plan, which will take a wider look at the county, creating a long-range vision for how transportation land use, housing, economic development, and community facilities all fit together.

Coweta County is one of the top 50 fastest growing counties in the United States. This rapid growth is placing demands on both the current – and future – transportation networks that will move people, goods, and services throughout the county safely, reliably, and efficiently.

By identifying areas likely to grow and where trips are and will be made, and ensuring the transportation network in place adapts and grows with it, the County and its municipalities can make strategic infrastructure investments to ensure connectivity and better manage demand, support economic development, minimize environmental impacts, maximize safety, and support a high quality of life for residents.

Coweta County is excited to embark on this update to the CTP and establish a future vision that accurately reflects the desires of those who live, work, and spend time in our community.
