Shakespeare examines love, power, and forgiveness while taking us on a jaunt through the idyllic Forest of Arden. In this scene, our heroine, Rosiland, has been banished from the court of her wicked uncle. She and her cousin, Celia, have fled to the forest and, for protection, have disguised themselves as brother and sister shepherds. Before they fled, Rosiland fell in love with the handsome Orlando, also banished and also in the forest. Orlando, not realizing that his sweetheart is in the woods (much less disguised as a boy), has been posting love poems all over the forest.
Hilarity ensues!
